Job OverviewThe Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the maintenance department in ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of the facility. This role involves performing routine maintenance and repairs, assisting in the upkeep of grounds, and providing support to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the routine maintenance and repairs of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general carpentry.
- Perform regular inspection of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the facility's exterior and interior spaces, including landscaping, parking lots, and common areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents, prioritizing safety and urgency.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and assist in ordering parts when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations in all maintenance activities.
- Provide support during facility events and activities as needed.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in maintenance or related fields preferred.
- Previous experience in maintenance, repair, or similar roles is beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, perform physical tasks, and work on ladders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
The Maintenance Assistant will work in various areas of the facility, both indoors and outdoors, and may be exposed to hazardous materials. Proper safety procedures and protective equipment must be utilized at all times.
