Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Groundskeeper
Salary/Pay Rate:
Based on experience and qualifications plus benefits.
This position is responsible for the maintenance of parks facilities and grounds.
Responsibilities- Mows grass and cuts weeds; applies herbicides
- Makes plumbing repairs at park facilities; winterizes pipes
- Makes electrical repairs at park facilities; repairs and replaces switches, outlets, and fixtures
- Collects litter and trash from buildings and grounds
- Maintains gymnasium and other facilities; cleans, strips, and waxes floors
- Prepares sports fields for play
- Maintains and repairs tools and equipment; changes oil, sharpens blades, and repairs tires
- Cleans and sanitizes public restrooms
- Operates a chainsaw to trim and remove trees
- Paints interior and exterior surfaces
- Performs routine carpentry repairs on buildings and facilities
- Performs related duties
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- More than one year of related experience required
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
- Knowledge of building maintenance methods and practices
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance methods and practices
- Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations
- Skill in the operation of a variety of grounds maintenance equipment
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Skill in the custodial maintenance of buildings
- Skill in stripping and waxing floors
- The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. Employees must lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.
- The work is performed both indoors and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. Employees are exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and machinery with moving parts. Protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves may be required.
Post offer negative drug test required. Applicants for positions that require a commercial motor vehicle at any time will be required to undergo controlled substances and, at the employer’s discretion, alcohol testing prior to employment and will be subject to further testing throughout their period of employment. Applicants will be asked to sign forms for release of information from previous employers in all cases where driving a CMV was one of the applicant’s functions.
Failure to sign will prevent employment as a CMV driver.
