Summary

The Station Maintenance Operator II is responsible for performing skilled station maintenance and operational support activities to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the District’s lift stations, pump stations, and related facilities, and reports to the Station Maintenance Supervisor. This position is classified as Station Maintenance Operator II (Non-Exempt) and is part of the Station Maintenance Department. The role is responsible for independently performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks, conducting inspections, and responding to operational needs while applying District procedures and safety requirements.

The position receives general supervision from the Station Maintenance Supervisor and does not supervise staff, though it may provide technical guidance or assistance to entry-level operators as directed. This classification is characterized as the journey-level class in the station maintenance series, distinguished from Station Maintenance Operator I by increased independence, technical skill, and responsibility, and from higher-level classes by limited responsibility for complex troubleshooting and system-wide coordination.

• Station Maintenance Operator I:
  Serves as the entry‑level classification, performing routine maintenance and operational support activities under close to general supervision. Employees focus on learning District systems, equipment, procedures, and safety practices while developing foundational technical skills and assisting higher‑level staff.
• Station Maintenance Operator II
  :
  Represents the journey‑level classification, performing a full range of routine and preventive maintenance activities with increasing independence. Employees apply working knowledge of station systems, respond to operational needs, and may provide functional guidance to entry‑level staff while working under general supervision.
• Station Maintenance Operator III
  :
  Represents the advanced journey‑level classification, performing complex maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting activities with substantial independence. Employees resolve non‑routine issues, support coordination of maintenance work, and provide technical guidance to lower‑level staff. Work requires advanced technical knowledge and sound judgment.
• Senior Station Maintenance Operator
  :
  Serves as the highest non‑supervisory classification, providing advanced technical expertise, leadership support, and system‑level problem solving. Employees lead complex maintenance efforts, mentor staff, support planning and prioritization, and act as a technical resource for operations and maintenance activities.
• Station Maintenance Supervisor
  :
  Represents the supervisory‑level classification, responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing station maintenance operations. This role includes formal supervision of staff, work planning and coordination, safety oversight, performance management, and accountability for operational outcomes.
