Laborer

Lake City, FL, US

4 days ago Requisition

Ecowaste Solutions is one of the fastest-growing companies in the waste management industry, delivering essential services that keep communities and businesses running. We take pride in the hands‑on work our team does every day, and we're looking for people who share that same drive and commitment to excellence.

Looking for a way in the door with a company that will actually invest in where you go next? As a Laborer, your primary role is to keep pace alongside our route crews, manually loading, emptying, and clearing trash and recyclable materials at each stop along the route. This is physically demanding, hands‑on work that requires constant movement, heavy lifting, and stamina to keep up a fast pace for the full shift.

It's also a great starting point: the work teaches the business from the ground up and opens doors to driving, maintenance, and other roles as you build experience with us.

  • Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.

  • Assists the driver with backing maneuvers while on route.
  • Notifies the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notifies the Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including closed or impassable streets, receptacles too heavy to service, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
  • Performs duties as scheduled by the Route Manager or Dispatch, and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Cleans and prepares job sites.
  • Picks and sorts materials, identifying and organizing them appropriately.
  • Uses a variety of tools and machines, including forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, and pressure washers.
  • Works in all weather conditions.
  • Unloads customer material by hand.
  • Assembles and disassembles containers.
  • Drives and delivers containers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • This is a physically demanding role requiring sustained physical exertion throughout the entire shift; it is not a desk or seated position.
  • Regularly lifts, carries, and throws trash, recyclables, and debris weighing 75 pounds or more.
  • Maintains a fast, continuous pace throughout the shift while servicing stops along the route.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching and repetitive motion while loading and emptying containers.
  • Extended periods of walking and standing for the full duration of 10 to 12 hour shifts, with minimal sitting.
  • Ability to unload customer material by hand.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Regularly exposed to dirt, debris, odors, and other conditions common to waste collection work.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts running 10 to 12 hours; additional hours may be needed based on route demands.
