Salary
The salary range for this position is $30.75–$41.52 hourly. Placement within the range depends on relevant work experience, internal equity, and if the position is represented by a labor union, the collective bargaining agreement.

The Facilities Engineer II is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) located at Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital. The schedule is Thursday to Monday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This role reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Operate and assist in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minimal supervision.
- Operate high‑pressure boilers and related equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water heating systems, generators, electrical switch gear, and energy management systems.
- Perform safety checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs on assigned equipment.
- Clean and paint equipment, piping, and accessories in power plant and mechanical rooms.
- Conduct chemical analysis of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and closed‑loop systems; add chemicals to maintain prescribed balances.
- Properly dispose of chemical drums and use safety equipment when working with chemicals.
- Respond to plant emergencies, knowing the location of firefighting equipment.
- Respond to service requests, performing troubleshooting, correction, and documentation.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections per organizational and regulatory protocols.
- Operate facility equipment and systems routinely and as needed in a safe, efficient manner.
- Assist contractors/vendors with repairs, maintenance, and construction as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of relevant building maintenance experience.
- Technical training in maintenance; HVAC/R trade school certification or equivalent.
- Licensed as a Stationary Engineer or the ability to obtain the license within 1 year of hire.
- Valid driver’s license (must provide a driving abstract).
- Hospital or military experience.
- One year of training in boiler maintenance.
- Current universal refrigerant certification.
