This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position supporting multiple medical office buildings across the northern suburban Chicago area. The service area spans from Gurnee (north) to Glenview (south) and west to Grayslake.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with an on-call rotation required (one week of on-call coverage approximately every four weeks).
Facilities Engineer II reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
- As a licensed operating engineer, operate and maintain building mechanical systems and equipment. Power Plant equipment includes high pressure boilers, chillers, and medical air compressors. The goals are to operate the equipment safely, efficiently, and reliably with the minimal occurrences of unscheduled shutdowns, and to provide a comfortable, safe occupant ambient space.
- Operate and assist in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minor supervision. Monitor other engineering systems and take emergency actions as necessary.
- Operate high-pressure boilers and related equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water heating system, water heating system, generators, electrical switch gear, and energy management system.
- Perform safety checks on plant equipment. Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Clea n s and paints equipment, piping, and associated accessories in power plant and mechanical rooms.
- Chemically analyze boiler, chiller, cooling tower and all closed loop systems.
- Perform chemical analysis tests and add the correct amount of chemicals to maintain prescribed balance in boiler, cooling tower and closed loops.
- Change and dispose of chemical drums properly and use proper safety equipment when working with chemicals. Understand the importance of chemical balance in all systems.
- Respond to plant emergencies and know the location of firefighting equipment.
- Respond to service requests and perform problem assessment, troubleshooting, correction, and documentation.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with organizational and regulatory protocols, policies, and standards.
- Operate facility equipment and systems on a routine and as-needed basis in a safe and efficient manner.
- May assist contractors/vendors with repairs, maintenance, and construction.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years relevant building maintenance experience
- Technical training in maintenance field; HVAC/R trade school certification or equivalent
- Licensed as a Stationary Engineer OR the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
- Valid driver’s license (must provide Driving Abstract)
- Hospital or military experience
- One year training in Boiler Maintenance
