To perform custodial duties as assigned throughout the Gardens and all of Bok Tower Gardens facilities. Must be willing to work indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Collect trash from all outside trash cans throughout the Gardens
- Check all restrooms, stock and clean as shown on schedule and/or needed
- Sweep outside walkways of Visitor Center, Café and Gift Shop areas as needed
- Clean and maintain buildings of BTG (which include:
Visitor Center, Exhibit Hall, Bathrooms, Theatre, Horticulture Offices and Building, Information Booth, Annex Storage, Olmsted house, North Walk Restrooms, Discovery Center Restrooms, Discovery Center Classroom) - Sweeping, mopping, collecting trash, dusting ceilings/walls, cleaning windows/mirrors to include interior and exterior
- Be visible and available to assist visitors with questions and/or problems
- Monitor all public facilities (gardens, restrooms, picnic areas, etc.) to ensure their cleanliness and presentation for the public
- Detail oriented
- Dependable and punctual work attendance
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem solving skills and multi-tasking capabilities
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions
- Ability to operate standard equipment used for custodial/janitorial purposes - ladders, step stools, handcarts, vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms etc.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to drive golf carts safely through Gardens
- Excellent internal customer service skills
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED; plus minimum of one (1) year of experience in custodial/janitorial work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Some exposure to general cleaning chemicals used for janitorial purposes
- Able to work outside in summer and winter climates
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, repetitive arm motions or light lifting (up to 60 lbs.)
- Continuous communication and/or interaction with staff, volunteers, and visitors
