Vale Group, a nationwide specialized recruitment firm, has partnered with a company based in Lakeland, FL 33805, who is actively searching for an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic to work onsite for an opportunity paying $30-$35 per hour, based on experience/credentials. This role centers on running, observing, servicing, and repairing industrial ammonia-based cooling units and the machinery tied to them. Daily efforts keep plant output secure and productive through routine inspections, scheduled upkeep, diagnostics, and corrective work that aligns with all safety standards and compliance mandates within a food production setting.

Requirements of the Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic:

• Solid mechanical aptitude paired with the ability to rebuild pumps, motors, oilers, and similar components

• Familiarity with startup sequences for two-stage ammonia cooling setups

• Comfortable performing duties inside sub-zero, freezer-type work areas and lifting loads near 75 lbs

• Willing to cover rotating shifts plus extra hours when operations demand it

• Capable of reading and writing English, with foundational arithmetic skills

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Completion of, or readiness to finish, the required RETA coursework leading to Class A certification, along with Haz Mat instruction (up to 24 hours)

• Training in Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and Hazard Communication; forklift certification obtainable as needed

Responsibilities of the Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic:

• Record gauge data and keep watch over how each system is performing

• Replenish and extract lubricant from cooling equipment whenever conditions call for it

• Carry out freezer defrost procedures using heated vapor or water methods

• Log precise service and equipment documentation

• Operate safely in the presence of assorted chemical agents

• Coordinate with fellow technicians and leadership through clear updates

• Lend support to other mechanics across the crew

• Pass the required proficiency evaluation at the qualifying threshold or above

• Support as needed
