Maintenance Lead

Full Time Lakeland, FL, US

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily maintenance activities within a manufacturing facility. This role ensures the smooth and efficient operation of all equipment and systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems, as well as the general upkeep of the building and facilities. The Maintenance Lead is also tasked with leading the internal maintenance and outside service technicians, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and minimizing downtime to maintain optimal production levels.

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position will support all functions of the operation including:

  • Leadership and Supervision:
    • Lead, train, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and operators to ensure they perform at high levels of competency and efficiency.
    • Schedule, support, assign, and execute as necessary the daily tasks to personnel, ensuring priority work is completed in a timely manner.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure maintenance activities align with production schedules.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • Must be hands on and able to perform and oversee repairs on a variety of systems including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with machinery and systems, implementing effective and timely solutions.
    • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and systems to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns.
    • Manage the preventive maintenance program, ensuring that all equipment and systems are serviced regularly according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Building and Facility Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the building, facilities, and associated infrastructure, including plumbing, HVAC, lighting systems, and grounds maintenance.
    • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or major renovations when necessary.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations related to building and facility maintenance.
  • Inventory and Documentation:
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts, and reorder as necessary to prevent downtime.
    • Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance schedules.
    • Prepare and submit maintenance reports to management, highlighting any significant issues or accomplishments.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
    • Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team, including regular safety meetings and training sessions.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to address potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the maintenance department and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies, and recommend upgrades or new equipment as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, noise, and heights.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position;
    Flexible hours and shifts as necessary. Requires overtime, and weekend work based on production demands.
