Parks Seasonal Maintenance

Position: Variable Parks Seasonal Maintenance - Over 18

** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
** If you are hired for a Parks position you will perform duties such as park cleanup, mowing, sports field maintenance, weeding, irrigation maintenance, pruning, planting, park equipment repair, minor construction and other duties as assigned.
** Must be at least 18 years of age.*

** Licensure/Certification/Registration
** Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

** PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS*

* ** Lifting:
** Must lift items from levels that include:  floor level or from below the knee; knee through chest level and above the shoulder level that may weigh in excess of 50 pounds using assistance.
** Repetitive Motions:
** Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.  Motions can be repetitive, e.g., such as when raking and/or shoveling.

** Hearing:
** Must be able to hear and respond to in person and/or telephone communication.  Must also hear radio transmissions and back-up alarms.  Must be able to distinguish audible signals from equipment.

** Vision:
** Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) used for driving.  Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point) needed for driving, scanning your surroundings, awareness of equipment in surroundings.

** MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:*

** Simple multiplication, division, subtraction and addition skills.

** Remembering:
** Ability to recall the timing of specific maintenance procedures can be important.

** Language Ability:
** Have the ability to read and interpret written instructions.

** Talking:
** Must be able to communicate effectively among team members and other employees.  Must be able to communicate effectively with public contacts in the field.

** WORK ENVIRONMENT
** Majority of work is performed outdoors under various weather conditions.  Other work environments include shop facilities and the greenhouse.  Exposure to various chemical agents occasionally that are utilized in the park management field occurs.  Works around water and electricity.  May work near traffic.### Benefits The City of Lakewood offers a robust benefits package.
