The Mission of Jefferson County Open Space is to preserve open space and parkland, protect park and natural resources, and provide healthy nature-based experiences.

* SCHEDULE:

** This is a full-time, limited position with a projected end date of 11/19/2026.
** COMPENSATION:
** Hiring Range: $22.00 -$24.00 USD Hourly Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.
** BENEFITS:
** The employment status is Limited (Fixed-Term) with an anticipated assignment end date of 11/19/2026 and is eligible for medical coverage starting the month after hire.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
*** Work involves constructing trails using hand tools and power tools and working around heavy equipment.
* Employee is responsible for maintaining trails, installing erosion control devices and inspecting the trail system.
* Work also involves vegetation control, constructing stairs, tie walls and fencing.
* This position may involve snow removal.

Minimum Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED or equivalent certificate.
* A minimum of one year experience in trail work, construction, landscaping, natural resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* One or more years of specific trails maintenance/construction.
* Experience with climbing maintenance/construction.
* Interest in climbing.

* Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including skid steer, roller/compactor, water pump, chainsaw and a variety of hand tools and power tools. Requires ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* This position works closely with the trails team and is required to work with said team to help achieve trail goals. However, the focus of the Climbing LTE position is to establish sustainable access and perform maintenance on climbing areas within Jefferson County Open Space properties.
* Criminal History and MVR Background Checks are required for every position.
* A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
