Like hands-on work, staying busy, and seeing the difference you made at the end of the day?

Well, you're in luck! O'Toole's Garden Centers is looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Technician to help keep our stores, grounds, equipment, and irrigation systems safe, functional, and looking their best. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes fixing things, solving practical problems, and helping keep a busy garden center running smoothly - especially when spring decides to show up all at once.

Pay: $27/hour

Where:
Our Lakewood Office – 1410 Quail St, Lakewood, CO

When:
Full-time, year-round; generally Monday-Friday with some weekend work as needed

9:00 AM–5:00 PM (Earlier on Snowplowing Days)

What You'll Be Doing (Keeping O'Toole's Running & Growing)

Your mission: help keep our facilities, grounds, equipment, and irrigation systems working the way they should. You'll complete assigned maintenance work, communicate what you find, and work with the Warehouse Manager and other leaders to keep priorities moving.

Keep Things Working
  • Complete assigned safety, corrective, and preventative maintenance work orders and communicate delays, concerns, or needs for additional approval.
  • Perform daily repair and upkeep work at Company properties based on established priorities and procedures.
  • Perform site inspections of facilities and mechanical equipment and promptly report issues that need attention.
  • Assist with approved store maintenance and improvement projects as directed by management.
  • Perform snow removal and other seasonal maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Assist with contractor access and on-site coordination, including escorting contractors in designated or restricted areas when needed.
  • Operate approved tools, garden equipment, and machinery for which you have been trained and authorized.
  • Follow OSHA requirements and Company safety, health, and environmental procedures
Keep the Water Flowing
  • Perform irrigation installation, inspection, adjustment, seasonal charge-up, testing, and other assigned irrigation work.
  • Perform routine irrigation maintenance and repairs and communicate when outside service, additional materials, or management approval is needed.
  • Report irrigation issues, property damage, and other concerns promptly to the Warehouse Manager or designated management.
And, Because Garden Centers Keep You on Your Toes
  • Complete special assignments and other related duties as directed by management.
  • Communicate work status, safety concerns, repair needs, and other important updates to management.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, training, and development as required.
  • Follow O'Toole's policies, procedures, work rules, and management direction.

What We're Looking For Must-Haves
  • At least one full season of irrigation experience in Colorado, including springtime charge-up, controller/monitor programming, scheduled maintenance, repairs, and winterization.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle report.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation and basic service of common maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Comfort using computers and tablets; experience with central control software programs is helpful.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, work within assigned priorities, take direction, and ask for management approval when needed.
