Facilities Shift Supervisor

The Facility Shift Supervisor assists the principal or the Facility Supervisor in maintaining a high-quality standard in his/her school by informing the principal of the condition of all assigned areas, reinforcing training, and motivating all custodial and maintenance staff to complete tasks on time. Additionally, the Facility Shift Supervisor provides students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the hiring, training and supervision of staff assigned to the building
- Personally, performs custodial/maintenance tasks as needed
- Provides prompt information in all emergency situations including equipment failure, fires, hazardous conditions, illegal entry, suspicious situations, etc. to the Facility Supervisor
- Assigns and oversees shift cleaning and custodial type security tasks in a manner approved by the Facility Supervisor
- Personally, performs or oversees the performance of shift custodians as to opening and locking of schools and all designated entrance doors
- Attends meetings as requested by the Coordinator of Support Services
- Oversees the proper maintenance of custodial closets, tools, and supplies used by shift custodians
- Requisition s all custodial/building maintenance tools, equipment, parts, supplies, and materials from the Facility Supervisor
- Operates and monitors heating, cooling, ventilating, pneumatic, electric, plumbing, water treatment systems as instructed and directed by the Facility Supervisor
- Maintains complete records on shift personnel for attendance
- Reports any and all accidents occurring during the shift, no matter how minor, to the Facility Supervisor and completes the necessary workers' compensation forms as instructed by the Facility Supervisor
- Reports any personnel/performance problems occurring on the shift as well as any resolutions to the Facility Supervisor
- To notify the Facility Supervisor of any emergency conditions such as power failure, boiler or chiller failure, gas odors, oil spills, rapidly accumulating snow, etc.
- Performs maintenance of property and grounds including, but not limited to, trash pickup, mowing, trimming, weeding, etc.
- Performs other building maintenance tasks as assigned or directed
- Performs snow and ice removal tasks as needed and directed
To substitute for the Facility Supervisor as needed and as directed by the Coordinator of Environmental and Custodial Operations or the Director of Facility and Operations or the Facilities Supervisor
Education and/or Certification
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid PA driver's license required
Experience Needed:
- Five years' previous building maintenance and/or custodial experience
Requisite
Skills:
- Ability to understand and follow simple written or verbal instructions
- Ability to read instructions, as well as, equipment operation and maintenance instructions
- Ability to work standing/walking for long periods of time, ability to work alone, ability to lift, push, pull, twist, stand, raise arms above shoulders, stoop to ground, climb ladders and stairs, work in noisy or dusty environments, inside and outside, in extreme weather conditions
