Schedule/Calendar: 8 hours/day (10:30 p.m.
- 7:00 a.m.) 40 hours/week
12 Month Benefits Salary: $21.32/hr includes Shift Differential
Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established district policies and standards. A custodian must maintain all assigned building(s) in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program.
Essential Functions:
- Performs inside and outside cleaning and sanitizing services as assigned
- Performs grounds related tasks as required and assigned
- Performs minor maintenance repairs and replacements as directed
- Transports, stores, and maintains an inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies as required
- Performs restoration of resilient and hard surface floors (stripping, wet vacuuming, rinsing, sealing, waxing, buffing, polishing) as directed
- Cleans carpets (spot removal and shampooing)
- Provides setups for banquets, concerts, band, health fairs, athletic contests, community education activities, conferences, meetings, and other events, as directed
- Provides custodial type security services such as building checks
- Adequately maintains supplies in custodial closets in a neat and orderly condition
- Performs other building maintenance tasks as assigned or directed
- Performs snow and ice removal tasks as needed and directed
Education and/or Certification
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience Needed:
Previous custodial experience preferred
Requisite
Skills:
- Physical ability to perform tasks described above on a routine basis
- Ability to work well with people
- Ability to understand and follow simple written or oral instructions
- Ability to work standing/walking for long periods of time
- Ability to work alone
- Ability to lift, push, pull, twist, stand, raise arms above shoulders, stoop to the floor, climb ladders and stairs

Physical Requirements:
Medium work. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
