Security Supervisor
Provides supervision and security while enforcing safety measures for students and facilities. Role qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; current, valid Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC); current, valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification; current, valid Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification; successful completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Intervention training biennially; and successful completion of Restorative Practices (RP) training biennially.
Position responsibilities include setting up and operating weapons detection systems, screening students and all school visitors, supervising students in various areas, conducting student and locker searches, escorting students and visitors, removing students from classrooms, conducting mediations and restorative circles, helping students resolve attendance and truancy problems, logging student infractions, de-escalating conflicts, assisting with paperwork for minor infractions, providing supervision and security on school days and for various events, and referring students to counselor and social worker as necessary.
Essential skills and experience include knowledge of basic office procedures, discretion and confidentiality, ability to read, write, and converse fluently in English, and maintaining courtesy and professionalism. Valued but not required skills include experience working in a high school setting and bilingual (English-Spanish) proficiency.
Physical demands include standing, walking, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and specific vision abilities. The work environment is usually moderate in noise level.
Terms of employment include a full-time, ten-month work year, starting wage based on education and experience, IMRF pension, unpaid lunch and paid breaks, sick and personal days, and generous fringe benefits.
