Chemist (bi-lingual)

A leading manufacturer in the coatings industry is seeking a chemist to join their team in Lansing. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with customers, contribute to product development, and support innovative technical solutions within a collaborative environment.

Chemist Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer support
  • Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overtime
  • Capable of safely using PPE and working with isocyanates (must be clean shaven for respirator use)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional presentation of technical information
Chemist Preferred Background & Skills
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Understanding of business processes such as SAP or AS/400 systems
Chemist Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory work including paint and panel preparation, testing, and record-keeping as assigned
  • Analyze formulas, investigate technical issues, and support problem-solving with supervisor guidance
  • Operate hand-spray and automated application equipment to produce and evaluate test panels
  • Travel with technical teams to support customer trials and implement solutions
  • Communicate technical data, project results, and reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Accurately maintain lab notebooks, records, and project documentation
  • Adapt workflow and prioritize tasks to meet customer needs and business timelines
