Summary:

The Boiler Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing boiler systems and associated facility equipment to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations. This role performs preventative and predictive maintenance, monitors equipment performance, ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards, and supports facility improvement projects. Higher‑level technicians may serve as subject‑matter experts (SMEs), provide technical guidance, and assist in training and development of team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair activities on boilers, piping systems, burners, HVAC units, and associated facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform alignments, adjust operating parameters, and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete preventative and predictive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Perform mechanical rebuilds including dust collection systems, gearboxes, pneumatic cylinders, and hydraulic cylinders.
  • Monitor equipment performance and conduct routine inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Complete work orders and accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status.
  • Maintain service and repair logs and communicate equipment issues and recommendations as needed.
  • Conduct environmental and facility checks to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Support minor building maintenance activities.
  • Assist Facilities Maintenance Technicians and other departments as required.
  • Support Engineering and Facilities projects, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote safe work practices and comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Follow LGESMI cleaning procedures during downtime, including cleaning designated equipment and surrounding work areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to support operational goals.
  • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills and proactively identify opportunities for equipment and process improvements.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritize workload, and complete assigned tasks within established timelines.

Additional Responsibilities – Boiler Technician III

  • Serve as a Subject‑Matter Expert (SME) for boiler systems and related facility equipment.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Conduct on‑the‑job training and identify additional training needs.
  • Assist with prioritization of maintenance activities and project execution.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational Certificate Boiler Operations, Industrial Maintenance, HVAC, or related field preferred.
  • Associate Degree in a technical discipline preferred.
  • Relevant equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:

  • Level I: 1–3 years of industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, boiler operations, or related experience.
  • Level II: 3–5 years of industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, boiler operations, or related experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance independently.
  • Level III: 5+ years of industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, boiler operations, or related experience.
