Home Maintenance Technician (Part-time)

Office Of Senior Services
Under direction, this position is responsible for performing minor household maintenance tasks, heavy-duty cleaning, and installing safety/accessibility devices in the residential homes of older adults living independently in the community. Conducts in-home visits to determine older adults needs and completes housing assessments.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Performs minor household maintenance tasks such as replacing and repairing faucets, broken door locks, and toilet flappers.
- Performs heavy-duty cleaning such as wall washing, cleaning carpets, and scrubbing floors.
- Performs installation and maintenance of safety/accessibility devices such as grab bars, handrails, and handheld shower heads.
- Performs outdoor maintenance such as exterior safety railing and outdoor window washing.
- Assists in program purchases, inventory, and proper maintenance of equipment.
- Schedules in-home appointments with clients to inspect homes for defects such as broken door locks, leaking faucets and faulty windows.
- Completes required documentation for assigned client referrals.
- Attends meetings, training programs, and seminars as assigned.
- Promotes and coordinates efforts toward client and agency goals with clients and other agencies.
- Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction or building trades
Required Licenses and/or
Certifications:
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and an operable insured automobile for authorized travel.
