POSITION: On-Call Building Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
FLSA STATUS: On-Call, Non-Exempt
THE ROLEThe on-call Building Engineer shall assist with the repair and maintenance of the facilities, equipment, infrastructure and grounds to ensure that the services and facilities are in a safe and exceptional working condition in an efficient, effective and timely manner. The on-call Building Engineer performs maintenance and repair tasks in order to insure the maintenance and improvement of the overall appearance and integrity of the facilities, grounds, building structures and systems in order to provide a superior experience for the guests, vendors and those alike.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReceives general direction from the Maintenance Manager and assists with the work of skilled maintenance personnel engaged in, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, structural, HVACR, and building systems involved in the maintenance, repair, and construction of properties, sponsored/managed/produced events, and equipment. Assists in creating a safe environment free of harassment for all employees and complies with all Legends Global policies, applicable OSHA standards, and local, state, and federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
Develops, maintains, coordinates, and acts as a liaison with outside organizations, vendors, city departments, private firms, business owners, clients, and operational service contractors who service facilities, equipment, or events, while maintaining communication channels with all internal departments and operations as needed. Demonstrates knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and/or construction specifications to properly identify, maintain, and repair facilities, equipment, tools, and machinery.
Assists in maintaining all facilities’ tools, machinery, and equipment in safe and proper working condition and supports the Maintenance Manager in utilizing inventory control procedures for tools, machinery, and equipment, completing maintenance work orders for repairs, and maintaining designated supply and equipment storage areas in a neat and orderly manner. Participates in regular inspections to review facilities, equipment, and general activity, sharing findings and observations with the Maintenance Manager to help maintain a superior level of facility function, polish, and efficiency, and reviews and recommends equipment, materials, and supplies required to perform maintenance-related job functions.
Assists in maintaining the maintenance department filing system and records to ensure required documentation is obtained for the repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Participates in meetings that emphasize team development, high morale, and quality service. Uses computer systems to process work orders, reports, shift reports, and to maintain temperature control systems throughout facilities, and performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or ExperienceThe position requires a high school diploma or equivalent GED and applicants must be 18 years of age or older. A valid Michigan driver’s license must be possessed and maintained. Trade certification in electrical, carpentry, HVACR, or plumbing is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial structures is required. The role also requires knowledge of commercial building and trade skills, including but not limited to an understanding of construction and maintenance terminology, use of tools and equipment, general safety practices and procedures, planning and organization, customer service best practices, and the general maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
