Position: Fleet Maintenance Manager (Diesel Trucks & Heavy Equipment) – Lansing, MI

What You’ll Do
  • Lead all shop operations to maintain fleet reliability, uptime and safety performance
  • Manage and develop supervisors, mechanics and the parts team through coaching, training and performance management
  • Use fleet management software and data to prioritize work, identify issues and improve maintenance outcomes
  • Oversee parts department operations, including purchasing, inventory levels and vendor performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, safety, accounting and leadership teams
  • Manage maintenance budgets, approve expenses and optimize total cost of ownership
  • Ensure new equipment is received, inspected and properly commissioned before service
  • Drive safety initiatives, incident reviews and injury prevention efforts
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in maintenance processes, inventory management and shop efficiency

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 7 years of experience maintaining diesel trucks and heavy equipment
  • At least 2 years of management experience in a multi-shift maintenance environment
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in diesel technology, management or related field preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching and team development skills
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft 365 and fleet management software
  • Ability to drive results through data, organization and accountability
  • Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician Certification preferred
Work Schedule
  • Monday – Friday
  • Typical hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (additional hours as needed)

This position is designated safety-sensitive. The associate will operate a vehicle or other equipment on behalf of Granger Waste Services as an essential function of their job and must comply with all applicable safety and drug and alcohol policies.
