SUMMARY

To provide students with a safe, comfortable, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Twelve-month GECS employee. $18.00 hourly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, in good repair at all times.
  • Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
  • Shovel, plow, and salt walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
  • Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
  • Grass cutting, tree trimming, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds.
  • Make building repairs where appropriate.
  • Maintain on a regular schedule all air handling units, circulating pumps, sump pumps, and air conditioning units.
  • Report immediately to the Operations Director any damage to school property.
  • Assume responsibility for the proper opening of the buildings each school day.
  • Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
  • Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Operations Director.
  • Appropriately maintain all athletic fields during and after each season.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.
  • Willingness to obtain CDL B, Water License, and others as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or equivalent. Evidence of good physical condition. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Demonstrate knowledge in basic techniques of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating, and cooling.

    OTHER

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    WORK

    ENVIRONMENT

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
