The City of Las Vegas is currently accepting applications for the position of Healthy Parks Aide
. Under general supervision, the Health Parks Aide performs unskilled work in the routine ground and custodial care and maintenance of City parks, facilities, athletic venues, grounds, and other landscaped and recreation areas; and performs related duties as assigned.
This is an hourly level/ part-time position with scheduled hours limited to 19 hours or less per week (Shift will vary based on the needs of the programs and facility). Hourly employees are also limited to 1,560 hours of work in any 18 month period.
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for current/future openings.
Selection ProcessFinal candidate selection may include hiring interview (if applicable). Any individual offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test, complete background check, and may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform the requirements of the job. Some positions may require preliminary background checks.

- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Note:
An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
- General knowledge of materials, tools, and methods used in custodial and facility maintenance, building and landscape maintenance and repair.
- Ability to use appropriate safety procedures involved in performing maintenance and custodial work; communicate effectively with individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and culturally diverse backgrounds; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted within the course of work.

- May be required to work an alternative or flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours
- Based on scheduled work hours, may be required to work autonomously in assigned areas to provide custodial care and maintenance to City facilities
Location:
Mostly outdoors in a field environment with exposure to all typical weather conditions, including travel from site to site, and indoors within various building facilities.
Hazards:
Exposure to sharp objects, pinch points, moving objects, vehicles, dust, noise, vibration, grease, smoke, fumes, gasses, uneven and slippery surfaces, cramped quarters, working at heights, biological waste, sewer hazards, toxic and caustic chemicals, inclement weather conditions and electrical shock.
Equipment used:
City vehicles, tractors, garbage truck, dump truck, ladders, variety of hand and power tools, measuring and testing equipment and other equipment associated with the custodial trades.
