About the Role
FLATS®, a Proper company, is seeking a dependable and hands-on Porter / Maintenance Technician to support the overall upkeep, functionality, and presentation of our residential community.
This role goes beyond basic cleaning-you'll play a key part in maintaining the property's physical condition, assisting with minor repairs, and ensuring a safe, well-kept environment for residents. This is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of maintenance work and property upkeep and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of common areas including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and amenity spaces
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as light repairs, bulb replacements, basic plumbing fixes, and preventative upkeep
- Assist with work orders and support the maintenance team with day-to-day operational needs
- Conduct regular property walks to identify maintenance issues, safety concerns, or cleanliness needs
- Support unit turns, including trash removal, light repairs, and preparation for new residents
- Maintain exterior areas, including walkways, parking areas, ad grounds, ensuring they are clean and hazard-free
- Respond promptly to spills, maintenance requests, and urgent property needs
- Assist with moving materials, equipment, and supplies as needed
- Report larger maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate team members
- Ensure tools, equipment, and storage areas are organized and properly maintained
Qualifications
- Previous experience in maintenance, porter, or facilities roles (residential or commercial preferred)
- Basic knowledge of general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC a plus)
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing or walking
- Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Basic communication skills and ability to follow safety procedures
- Flexibility to work a full-time schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends
