The Role:
Production Lead Technician

As a Production Lead Technician, you will lead day-to-day construction and assembly activities within data center production environments. This role exists to ensure build quality, schedule adherence, and safe execution across active projects.

You will coordinate field work, guide technicians, and ensure installations meet Switch standards. You will serve as a point of contact between technicians, management, and customers while maintaining accountability for execution outcomes.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate daily construction and assembly activities for production and customer installation areas
  • Communicate build schedules, priorities, and task assignments with management and field teams
  • Lead installation of cage systems, ladder racks, containment systems, and cabinet infrastructure
  • Plan and execute buildouts for T-SCIF, MMC, IDF, and office spaces
  • Perform and verify layout, alignment, and installation of cage systems and power spine structures
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure work meets standards
  • Maintain accurate floor plans and labeling for production environments
  • Identify and correct heat containment and configuration issues
  • Perform weekly facility inspections and escalate issues as needed
  • Mentor and support technicians through on-the-job training and guidance
  • Interface with customers regarding support tickets and installation needs
  • Prepare job sites, transport materials, and operate tools and equipment (lifts, drills, saws, etc.)
  • Perform basic plumbing and mechanical tasks, including fittings, hose installation, and leak testing
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in production, facilities, or construction environments
  • Experience in a lead or senior technician role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on construction experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Experience using powered and non‑powered hand tools
  • Ability to perform dimensional measurement and layout work
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred:

  • Experience in data center or mission‑critical environments
  • Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
  • Experience with containment systems, cage builds, and cabinet installation
  • Experience operating forklifts, boom lifts, or similar equipment
  • Trade‑related certifications
