Utility Porter - Housekeeping

Position Overview

The Specialist – Housekeeping Floor is responsible for maintaining hallways, stairwells, elevator lobbies, storage rooms, and providing specialty cleaning in suites, including but not limited to extract, shampoo, spot carpeting, strip and wax floors, and cleaning necessary equipment. The role also involves assisting housekeepers with routine tasks such as stripping linen and removing trash from suites when instructed by the floor manager.

All duties are performed in accordance with The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

• Assist housekeepers with the stripping of linen and removing trash from suites when instructed by floor manager.
• Extract and shampoo, spot treat all carpeting in assigned work areas; strip and wax floors in assigned work areas.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Perform deep and general cleaning of suites.
• Care for carpet, marble, furniture, and upholstery.
• Maintain locker rooms.
• Remove all trash from the floor.
• Keep brown bags off corridors.
• Ensure security of any assigned keys or beeper.
• Review assignment sheet and update completed assignments; check with Floor Manager for additional assignments throughout the shift.
• Provide accurate directions and information for guest inquiries, demonstrating knowledge of The Venetian Resort, its features, attractions, promotions, and special events.
• Offer service or assistance to meet the needs of guests, clients, or customers.
• Adhere to safety procedures; consistent and regular attendance is essential.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• 21 years of age.
• Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of hotel or similar cleaning experience.
• Must possess knowledge of proper chemical handling and ability to read and follow MSDS, OSHA guidelines, and safety practices.
• Must be able to communicate on a two‑way radio/device.
• Ability to operate a commercial vacuum cleaner.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both spoken and written.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel.
• Knowledge of all equipment utilized (e.g., extractors, shampoo machines, buffers).
• Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Lift or carry 75 pounds unassisted during specific tasks.
• Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
• Interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, and other team members.
• Be able to walk, stand, stretch, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods.
• Work in a fast‑paced, busy environment and be exposed to environmental factors such as noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
