Role: QA Technician IAs a QA Technician I at Switch, you will help maintain clean, safe, and organized data center spaces. Your responsibilities include routine cleaning, facility upkeep, and material handling tasks across customer, employee, operational, and back‑of‑house areas. This role follows established processes and supports the team’s daily readiness standards.
Responsibilities- Complete janitorial tasks: cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal, and room organization.
- Maintain common areas, office spaces, shipping and receiving areas, data floor areas, and back‑of‑house spaces.
- Handle basic materials, supplies, equipment, and cleaning chemicals safely.
- Use basic warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, as trained and authorized.
- Dispose of cardboard, foam, pallets, and other approved materials.
- Perform detailed cleaning in mantraps, hallways, sectors, conference rooms, lounges, restrooms, and related areas.
- Replace and remove sticky mats throughout the facility.
- Monitor supplies and communicate when items need to be ordered.
- Clean plenum areas and complete daily perimeter walks.
- Complete basic facility upkeep tasks such as changing sconce lights, tightening outdoor handles, and adjusting hydraulic door hinge speeds.
- Follow safety practices and established procedures.
- Pays close attention to cleanliness, order, and detail.
- Communicates clearly when supplies, issues, or support are needed.
- Works reliably alone or with a team.
- Maintains a professional presence in customer‑facing areas.
- Stays focused on daily tasks and follows through on assigned work.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic janitorial, cleaning, facility upkeep, or maintenance experience.
- Basic PC skills, including email and internal communication tools.
- Understanding of safety practices for cleaning materials, chemicals, and facility work.
- Ability to converse in English for work instructions and safety communication.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation to the work site.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, use hands, carry supplies, operate approved tools, and work from a ladder.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors using required safety practices.
- Ability to lift or move up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to wear approved personal protective equipment when required.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak work periods when needed.
