Custodial Worker II, UNLV Student Union & Event Services [R0152401]

• Perform general cleaning services to the facility using various cleaning equipment and materials, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and orderly work environment.
• Maintain cleanliness of the 135,000-square‑foot Student Union building and associated areas such as meeting rooms, offices, hallways, closets, stairways, entrances/exits, dining areas, lounges, the theater, the SORCE Room, and other spaces.
• Additional responsibilities include the exterior areas of the SU facility such as trash/waste bins, seating, sidewalks, service areas, loading dock, Pida Plaza, and SU Courtyard, and select food retail outlets.
• Typical tasks: trash removal; floor care (sweeping, mopping, stripping/waxing, buffing, vacuuming, and carpet shampooing); window washing; daily office cleaning; polishing furniture and fixtures; moving furniture; organizing storage rooms; light maintenance and repair of miscellaneous equipment; operating machinery such as a scissor lift, electric strippers, buffers, vacuums, extractors, and rider scrubbers; opening and locking the facility; and other duties as assigned.

Possible shift schedules may include:

• Day/First Shift: Thursday–Monday 6 AM–2:30 PM (Off Tuesday & Wednesday)
• Swing/Second Shift: Friday–Tuesday 2 PM–10:30 PM (Off Wednesday & Thursday)
• Graveyard/Third Shift: Tuesday–Saturday 10 PM–6:30 AM (Off Sunday & Monday)

Schedule availability is subject to change; final schedule will be communicated upon offer.

• High‑school graduation or equivalent education plus one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, government, or similar environment; or six months of general work experience plus one year of custodial or janitorial experience; or six months as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

• Knowledge of building maintenance equipment such as floor machines, riders, lifts, extractors, and related practices.

Staff may occasionally be required to work outside standard schedules, including special events, holidays, weekends, late evenings, and/or early mornings, with advanced notice.
