Job Description

Position Title: Kitchen Aide Monastery – Part Time

Infirmary

Reports to:

Director of Monastery

Primary Function: Under the supervision of the Director of the Monastery Infirmary and in accordance with Saint Vincent food service policies and procedures, prepares meals for members of the Saint Vincent community who dine in the infirmary dining room.

Required Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma required. Training or education in food service preferred.

Experience: Some prior work and kitchen assistance preferred but not required.

Essential Duties:

Keeps the kitchen and the dining room clean and in good order.

Presents food with appropriate utensils and at the proper temperature.

Resets tables and regularly changes tablecloths.

Responds promptly and courteously to special requests of the monks.

Prepares trays according to nursing specifications for residents who are room-bound.

Maintains stock and inventory of kitchen supplies.

Makes available beverages, fruit, and small snack items to meet the nutritional needs of the monks.

Reports hazards to patients or staff and recommends improvements to the service in the physical space.

Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and staff while ensuring confidentiality.

Reports any changes observed in conditions or behaviors of patients and any unusual behavior.

Other duties:

Practices careful and efficient use of supplies and materials.

Participates in orientation of new employees.

Adapts to changing unit needs by organizing priorities.

Attends and participates in unit meetings and job-related educational programs.
