The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is Amazon’s front‑line responder for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation, including stand‑by diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. The role provides 24/7 shift coverage, with 12‑hour shifts on rotating 3, 4, or 5‑day work weeks.

Required:

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, emergency generators, and fire/life safety systems within the data center.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.
• Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installs, rack PDU and rack ATS replacements.
• Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure adherence to all safety procedures during work.
• Work 12‑hour shifts on rotating 3‑ and 4‑day work weeks.
• Collect daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment (temperatures, voltages, currents).
• Use internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare‑part inventory.
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Respond to off‑hour emergency calls per on‑call rotation for any region site.
• Comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
• Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
• Manipulate small wires and objects.

• Walk job sites in uneven terrain.
• Work at heights and from ladders.
• Regularly lift and or move up to 39 pounds and participate in group lifts for 40 pounds or more.
• Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
• Push or pull heavy objects into position.
• Work in noisy environments.

• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Current, active US government security clearance of TS/SCI with polygraph.

• 4+ years of data center engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
• Experience in data center engineering.
• Ability to perform physical tasks continuously without becoming overly tired.

USA, MD, Laurel – $37.00–$65.00 hourly.

Base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
