Machine Technician – Kansas City, MOMonday‑Friday (hours TBD)
AboutThe Role
A Packsize Machine Technician will install, configure, and maintain Packsize equipment solutions onsite at a designated customer’s facilities. The technician must be a creative problem solver who can identify, analyze, maintain, and repair complex mechanical equipment and answer difficult customer questions about product features. The role includes start‑up testing, delivering customer training on product capabilities, and building a trust‑based relationship with assigned customers while working closely with Packsize team members to provide exceptional customer service.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Schedule tasks at a customer’s job sites
- Troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively using technical drawings and documentation
- Work cross‑functionally with R&D, Software, and Quality Engineering teams
- Perform routine maintenance and emergency services as they arise
- Analyze customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify new or ongoing machine performance issues and perform problem‑solving and maintenance
- Continuously learn the customer’s operational processes, packaging designs, and technical specifications
- Install Packsize solutions and train others to use and maintain them
- Handle basic clerical and administrative duties, including email communication, expense reports, travel arrangements, and detailed technical reports
- Communicate information and ideas with Packsize and customer personnel efficiently and accurately
- Adhere to all safety requirements and protocols related to exposed moving parts and electricity
- Maintain excellent work ethic and time management skills
Clear jams, load Z‑fold, change labels, change bander paper, and add glue to the machine.
What You’ll Bring- Customer service focus
- Knowledge of Windows platforms
- Effective use of hand tools
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision
- Basic Microsoft (Excel, Word) or Google Suite (Sheets, Docs) experience (helpful but not required)
- Associate’s Degree, Vocational Training, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related area (preferred)
- Communicate with others to exchange information
- Work within a production facility, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
- Move in different positions, including tight and confined spaces
- Move between work sites, including covering distances within and around various sites
- Remain stationary and often stand for prolonged periods
- Work in a noisy environment at various temperatures
- Move objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and similar structures
- Perform tasks that require bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, carrying, and reaching
- All work is performed at customer’s facilities
- Available on‑call
- Overnight travel may be required for initial and periodic training
- Ability to travel domestically by vehicle or airplane
The salary range for this role is $33‑$36 USD per hour; however, Packsize considers several factors when determining compensation when extending a job offer, including but not limited to the role, responsibilities, the candidate’s prior work experience, education/training, and any special skills.
