Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking a Turnaround Planner to support the planning, coordination, and execution readiness of shutdowns, outages, turnarounds, and other major maintenance events within a heavy industrial operation. This individual will lead long-range planning activities for complex maintenance scopes, ensuring work is appropriately defined, resourced, sequenced, and ready for safe execution.

This role is focused on major maintenance events and extended-lead planning activities rather than routine daily maintenance scheduling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support planning and coordination for turnarounds, shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance events.
  • Develop long-range plans for complex work scopes requiring detailed coordination and extended lead times.
  • Assist with scope development, work-list review and cleanup, work-order setup, and planning-readiness activities.
  • Build and organize job packages that address labor, materials, contractor requirements, tools, permits, equipment access, and execution considerations.
  • Coordinate planning inputs across maintenance, operations, engineering, warehouse, supply chain, contractors, and leadership.
  • Track readiness milestones, action items, risks, open issues, materials status, contractor needs, and planning progress.
  • Participate in turnaround planning meetings, readiness reviews, pre-event coordination, and execution support.
  • Help identify and remove bottlenecks that could affect planning quality, schedule readiness, or event execution.
  • Support planning discipline and standardization for major maintenance work.
  • Assist with post-event closeout, documentation, lessons learned, and improvement opportunities for future events.
  • Track and report metrics related to planning readiness, material availability, action-item completion, and turnaround preparedness.
  • Use the site CMMS to support work-order development, scope definition, work package preparation, and maintenance-event readiness.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, operations, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance planning, work-order processes, and industrial maintenance execution.
  • Experience supporting large or complex maintenance scopes requiring detailed coordination and longer planning horizons.
  • Ability to build work packages and coordinate labor, materials, contractors, permits, tools, and equipment access.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to identify risks, follow up on action items, and keep planning activities moving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with field personnel, contractors, and leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business tools.
  • Familiarity with Maximo or another CMMS platform.
Preferred Experience
  • Five or more years of experience in turnaround planning, shutdown coordination, maintenance planning, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience planning or supporting turnarounds, outages, shutdowns, or major maintenance events in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in refining, renewable fuels, chemicals, oil and gas, power generation, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial setting.
  • Experience developing work packages, tracking event readiness, coordinating contractors, and managing material requirements.
  • Experience with Maximo or another enterprise CMMS.
  • Familiarity with post-event closeout, lessons learned, and maintenance planning process improvement.
