Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an experienced MRO Buyer to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The MRO Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials in support of heat exchanger manufacturing and service operations. This role ensures critical spare parts, fabrication consumables, and facility services are available to maintain production uptime and sustain plant infrastructure.
The MRO Buyer also manages vendor relationships and service contracts (e.g., landscaping, pest control, waste management) to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and reliable facility support.
- Shop consumables (welding supplies, abrasives, cutting tools)
- Maintenance spares (motors, pumps, valves, bearings)
- Safety and environmental supplies (PPE, filters)
- Maintain inventory levels for critical spares
- Partner with maintenance, engineering, and production teams
- Expedite urgent orders to minimize downtime
- Source and manage suppliers for materials and services
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contracts
- Manage service contracts such as landscaping, pest control, waste removal, and engineer related services
- Monitor supplier and contractor performance
- Resolve supplier issues
- Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems
- Maintain accurate pricing and vendor data
- Resolve invoice issues
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and safety regulations
- Identify cost reduction opportunities
- Implement inventory optimization strategies
- Analyze spend data
- Work with maintenance, operations, EHS, and finance teams
Hayden Industrial has determined this position involves safety‑sensitive job duties and will be considered a safety‑sensitive position for purpose of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (“The Unity Bill”) effective August 29th, 2019.
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2‑3 years MRO purchasing experience in industrial environments
- Experience managing service contracts
- Experience in heat exchanger or pressure vessel industry (Preferred not required)
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentNon‑temperature controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, paint masks, respirator, when required, and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes within the manufacturing facility.
Physical DemandsWhile performing duties of this job, the employee in this position is regularly required to stand for long periods of time. This position requires walking, the ability to reach, ascend/descend ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop. The employee occasionally will lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
PositionType / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
