The Facility Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the maintenance of the Foundation's buildings, equipment, and grounds to help ensure a safe, functional, and reliable environment for employees, researchers, and visitors. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and supervisors, this position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
The technician responds to work orders, assists with monitoring building automation systems and facility alarms, supports emergency response activities, and works collaboratively with Facilities staff and contractors to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the Foundation's facilities. This position is expected to develop technical skills through hands-on training while providing excellent customer service and gaining a broad understanding of facility maintenance operations.
Responsibilities:- Completes assigned work orders and associated documentation accurately and follows up on repair requests to ensure maintenance activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Performs preventive maintenance and a wide variety of facility maintenance and repair tasks involving building systems and grounds, including basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, ceiling systems, doors, hardware, and general building maintenance. Troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts facility equipment, appliances, and machinery within the scope of the position.
- Assists experienced maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel with equipment installations, preventive maintenance, component replacement, troubleshooting, and repairs while developing technical knowledge and skills.
- Evaluates maintenance issues and exercises sound judgment in determining when repairs require the assistance of a licensed or highly skilled tradesperson, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Responds to routine maintenance requests, assists with emergency maintenance situations, and supports facility operations to minimize disruptions to building occupants and research activities.
- Operates and properly maintains hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintains a safe work environment by following established safety procedures and complying with applicable OSHA regulations, building codes, and Foundation policies.
- Provides professional, courteous, and customer-focused service while interacting with Foundation staff, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
- Performs other duties and special projects assigned by the supervisor.
High school diploma or GED
Completion of a trade or technical school program and a minimum of one (1) year of experience maintaining mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience
Work Hours- Monday through Friday
- 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
