Job Description:

Ledyard Public Schools is looking to hire a dependable and skilled custodian. The ability to follow written and oral instructions while relating to students, staff and public in a courteous manner is required and experience with building cleaning, routine maintenance and groundskeeping is preferred.

The position requirements include:

* Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to daily cleaning and building maintenance; including but not limited to operation of floor and restroom cleaning machines, waxing and stripping of floors and general cleaning and disinfecting

* Previous experience in custodial routines and procedures preferred

* Grounds keeping experience a plus

* Good interpersonal relationship skills

* Demonstrated record of reliable performance and attendance

* Ability to lift and carry objects of 25 - 50 lbs

* Hours Monday/Tuesday through Friday/Saturday, may include nights

Pay and benefits in accordance with Ledyard BOE and Local 1303 of Council #4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO agreement.

Pay: $22.65 per hour

Physical Requirements of the Job:

* Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks

* Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders

* Push/pull items such as tables, stacked chairs, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment
