Full-time Days

Monday thru Friday, 7:30a-4p

Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Will use personal vehicle to travel around John Knox Village campus.

2+ Years of Previous Floor Maintenance experience required.

$16.00-$20,00/hour pay rate based upon related experience

JOB SUMMARY

Performs housekeeping and floor maintenance activities in assigned areas according to established standards. Supportive of the Village’s mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs floor maintenance including buffing, stripping, waxing, wet/dry vacuuming, shampooing, mopping and sweeping a variety of floor surfaces.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpet. Buffs hard floors. Vacuums or mops hallways and common areas.
  • Strip wax floors using heavy machinery (auto scrubber, carpet extractor, side-by-side machine and upholstery cleaner).
  • Keeps premises of John Knox Village property clean and in orderly condition.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties and covers when there is a shortage of personnel.
  • Assists residents and John Knox Village associates to ensure completion of work orders.
  • Transports all cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of, maintain, and care for all equipment including disassembly and reassembly for maintenance and cleaning; assesses malfunctions of floor care equipment; may make minor repairs or report for repair.
  • Understands of chemicals and pad/rotator brushes are used with equipment.
  • Maintains checklist of completed work and report any necessary work orders to Maintenance.
  • Responds promptly to emergency clean‑up requests.
  • Maintains records and reports as needed.
  • Available on‑call for emergencies as needed.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
  • Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.

The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • This position requires the level of education typically acquired by a course of study leading to a high school diploma or GED.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Will use personal vehicle to travel around John Knox Village campus.

Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):

  • A minimum 2 years previous floor maintenance experience required.
  • A minimum of 1 years Housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Beginner level keyboarding skills & Microsoft Office Outlook software knowledge required.
  • Must have knowledge of safety precautions and hazards of the floor maintenance trade, checking labels for precautions.
  • Must have knowledge of the correct usage of cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The associate is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • The associate is subject to noise and vibrations and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • The associate may be required to function in close quarters, crawl spaces, enclosed rooms, narrow aisles or passageways, and other small areas.
  • The associate may be exposed to infectious diseases.
  • The associate is required to function around individuals with challenged mental capacities.
  • All associates may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
