The City of Lee's Summit is looking for a skilled Facilities Maintenance Worker II to join our Central Building Services team and help keep City buildings, equipment, and operations safe, functional, and running.

This isn't your typical desk job. You'll be moving, building, fixing, repairing, troubleshooting—and occasionally asking yourself, "Who thought putting that there was a good idea?"

Pay range: $20.04-$25.63 per hour.

The opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Worker II performs a variety of skilled maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction activities throughout City facilities. This is a hands-on position with plenty of variety and the opportunity to work on a wide range of municipal buildings, systems, and equipment.

What your day-to-day may include:

  • Assisting with troubleshooting and repairing electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Supporting remodeling, renovation, and construction projects.
  • Maintaining electrical equipment and building systems.
  • Diagnosing problems and finding the right solution.
  • Performing preventive maintenance to keep equipment running and prevent bigger problems down the road.
  • Lubricating locks, bearings, and hinges and changing V-belts on motors and exhaust fans.
