Overview
The Grounds Maintenance Summer Support employee will work with the facilities team to support the upkeep and repair of school grounds during the summer months. Responsibilities include mowing lawns, operating equipment, and maintaining safe and well-kept school properties. The role is designed for college students and offers the opportunity to return each summer, providing continuity and growth throughout their college experience.
Roles and Responsibilities- Assists with minor repairs to parking lots, walkways, and signage.
- May clean workshop areas and parking lots by sweeping or blowing.
- May require hand washing mowing equipment and vehicles on a routine basis, including scrubbing and using a power washer.
- Operates tractor and commercial-grade riding mowers and/or other equipment as necessary.
- Position requires working outside in the weather; conditions may include rain and heat.
- Uses a variety of equipment and power tools, including blowers, power-washers, trimmers, and edgers.
- Assists with installation, maintenance, and repair projects.
- Collects refuse from grounds and dumpster areas at schools.
- Operates LCPS truck and towed equipment trailer.
- Demonstrates professionalism with LCPS personnel, school staff, and the public.
- Wears issued uniform and task-specific personal protective safety equipment.
- Possesses basic mechanical ability to perform routine maintenance.
- Performs repairs on fences and playground equipment. Must be able to lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
Skills And Abilities
- General knowledge of occupational hazards and safety
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
