Recycling Maintenance Technician I
Join the Loudoun County Department of General Services (DGS) as a Recycling Maintenance Technician I position at our Solid Waste Management Facility in Leesburg, Virginia. This position will be one of four Recycling Maintenance Technicians reporting to the Recycling Specialist. As the Recycling Maintenance Technician I, you will perform maintenance at the County's recycling drop-off centers, including delivery and removal of glass recycling collection trailers, general site inspection, litter, and junk removal, sweeping, and occasional interaction with the public. This position will work regularly on Saturdays as part of the full-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site cleanup, litter and junk removal, and general site maintenance.
- Perform small repairs to dumpsters, fencing, and signage, and enter work orders.
- Surveillance system monitoring, reporting, and transport of surveillance trailer.
- Provide customer service to the public, provide guidance on recycling and waste management.
- Paint bulking, battery packaging.
- Performs snow removal operations as directed, including snow clearing/shoveling.
- Operate forklift, full-size pickup to haul trailers, snowplow.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related work experience in basic grounds maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements:
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal and DMV record background checks, a valid driver's license, and good driving record (Driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
- This position requires the ability to lift up to sixty (60) pounds and work in all types of weather conditions for the majority of the workday.
- Must be available to respond to County emergencies as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive.
- May be required to work beyond the scheduled workday.
