Maintenance Worker
Full Time – Holton Community Hospital, Holton, KS, US
Full-time. Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Position SummaryThis position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment of care. Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled jobs. Evaluates and implements repair and maintenance as needed to both equipment and to the facility interior and exterior, including grounds. Responsible for coordinating the preventative repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that all bio-med equipment is safe and functioning according to standards of the industry.
Ensures that parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances to the facility are safe and free of snow, ice, or debris. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Perform facility inspections, preventive maintenance, documentation, and maintain safety equipment and logs for compliance.
- Inspect and test emergency power, lighting, exit lighting, exterior lighting, and helipad lighting if applicable.
- Assist with fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety system inspections and certifications.
- Perform general maintenance, repairs, and minor construction throughout hospital and clinic facilities.
- Conduct routine checks of HVAC, electrical, water, and mechanical systems, including transfer panels.
- Maintain HVAC systems including HEPA and surgical air filter changes.
- Clean, filter, flush, and sanitize ice machines per infection prevention standards.
- Coordinate and assist with preventive maintenance and required inspections of hospital and selected medical equipment.
- Ensure equipment and systems function safely and according to regulatory and manufacturer standards.
- Complete and document work orders promptly.
- Maintain hospital grounds, parking areas, sidewalks, and entrances in safe and clean condition.
- Perform snow and ice removal and debris control as needed.
- Maintain mechanical rooms, work spaces, and storage areas in an organized and safe manner.
- Assist with emergency response, disaster preparedness, and other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Preference given to applicants with education or training in a maintenance field.
- Preferred 3-5 years of experience or training in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
- Must be capable of communicating clearly (reading, writing and speaking) in the English language.
- Must be capable of operating a personal computer with Microsoft Excel and the internet.
- Must be capable of reading and comprehending written policies, procedures, laws, regulations and operating and maintenance manuals.
- Must be capable of reading thermometers, computer screens, gauges and timers, recording readings and writing reports, policies and procedures.
- Moderate to Heavy Work: frequently walk or stand, lift in tight spaces, climb, balance, move 75 pounds or more, shovel snow, use hands, reach, stoop, bend, climb on ladders, reach overhead.
- Operate lawn equipment and power tools.
