Job Summary
Part-Time | 16 Hours Per Week
Compensation is based on experience. Candidates with no prior experience may start at $17.50 per hour.
Responsible for performing a variety of environmental services duties to maintain assigned patient care, public, and support areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition while supporting a positive patient and visitor experience. Ensures supplies and equipment are maintained, stocked, and in proper working order. Contributes to infection prevention efforts, environmental safety, and operational efficiency through the completion of assigned cleaning, sanitation, and support activities.
Essential Functions
* Cleans and sanitizes assigned patient rooms, public areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, and other designated spaces in accordance with departmental standards.
* Collects, removes, and properly disposes of trash and waste materials following established procedures.
* Sanitizes surfaces, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment using approved cleaning products and methods.
* Stocks paper products, cleaning solutions, personal protective equipment, and other supplies in assigned areas as needed.
* Maintains assigned equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
* Utilizes bed management systems and handheld technology to support room turnover activities and patient throughput.
* Operates cleaning carts, trash carts, and other environmental services equipment safely and effectively.
* Demonstrates knowledge of infection prevention practices, isolation precautions, and environmental cleaning procedures.
* Maintains compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and infection prevention requirements.
* Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and team members.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of environmental services principles, practices, procedures, and equipment.
* Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English.
* Basic computer skills, including keyboard and mouse operation.
* Ability to operate computers and standard software applications used within the department.
* Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, visitors, and team members.
* Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, reports, and departmental documentation.
* Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete assigned tasks independently.
* Knowledge of infection prevention practices, isolation procedures, and environmental cleaning standards.
* Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals, equipment, waste materials, and supplies.
* Ability to organize work effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
* Environmental services experience within a healthcare setting preferred.
* Knowledge of additional languages preferred.
Education
* High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
