Job DescriptionThe Building Service Worker is a temporary hourly position responsible for providing operational service during the evening hours to ensure a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment. This role delivers proactive customer service to students, faculty, and the school community.

- Utilize knowledge of methods, materials, and practices used in operational support of school activities.
- Lift 50 pounds.
- Stand/walk on tile and/or concrete for extended periods.
- Climb ladders up to 15 feet high.
- Carry backpack and hip‑mounted vacuum cleaners weighing up to 20 pounds for extended periods.
- Perform a full range of custodial tasks, including:
- Cleaning floors and other surfaces (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing).
- Operating heavy floor machines for stripping, waxing, and polishing.
- Vacuuming carpets and using carpet‑cleaning machines.
- Lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Collecting trash and disposing in dumpsters.
- Cleaning sinks, restrooms, furniture, and fixtures.
- Replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles.
- Move and set up furniture to support all school functions.
- Participate in team cleaning site plan provided by the Building Service Manager.
- Provide support for after‑hour activities by school and community groups.
- Report maintenance or facility problems to the Building Service Manager.
- Use custodial and cleaning equipment properly and maintain it.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required:
- At least 18 years old.
- Pass fingerprints and a criminal history background check.
- Complete Employee History Verification Forms.
- Complete Vector Training videos before starting work.
- Reliable transportation to get to/from work.
- Physical ability to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Stand/walk on tile and/or concrete for extended periods.
- Carry and use backpack and hip‑mounted vacuum cleaners up to 20 pounds for extended periods.
- Climb ladders up to 15 feet.
Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six (6) months or more experience in cleaning school or business facilities.
Temporary hourly position with hourly rate of $15.00.
Not eligible for bargaining unit.
