Perform service (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on equipment at external or Hiab locations in line with the Manager's instructions. Contribute to productive customer relationships and follow best practice in all administrative and technical activities.
Main tasks and responsibilities Technical and Product Knowledge- Stay up to date with technical developments shown in internal service bulletins and complete technical courses as instructed by the District Service Manager for applicable equipment.
- Keep up to date with technical specifications of relevant equipment.
- Respond to customers in the manner instructed by the District Service Manager to maximize satisfaction.
- Follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines.
- Protect self and others.
- Follow applicable safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements.
- Alert District Service Manager if equipment safety is jeopardized.
- Operate assigned service vehicle in compliance with Hiab driving policy and relevant state/federal regulations.
- Maintain the assigned service vehicle to manufacturer standards with support from fleet management company.
- Respect and protect Hiab and third‑party property (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment) and business activities.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan and then conduct service or repair as instructed by the District Service Manager.
- Submit regular reports in the specified format.
- Keep adequate records and maintain documentation per agreed standards.
- Plan and manage time and resources for maximum benefit for Hiab and the customer.
- Make judgements about the most cost‑effective and efficient approaches to providing service.
- Maintain documentation to ensure accurate invoicing to the customer.
- Manage and protect the security and traceability of spare parts.
- Recognise sales opportunities and communicate them to the District Service Manager.
- Provide feedback to the District Service Manager to support continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in innovative thinking about ways to improve service efficiency.
- Obtain and maintain a 1‑year DOT Medical Card.
- Be mobile, adaptable and able to work in variable physical site conditions without direct supervision.
- Hold a qualification from a higher vocational school (below graduate/BSc level) in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics, electronics or have equivalent experience.
- Have working technical knowledge of all Hiab product lines (mechanicals, hydraulics, electrics, electronics).
- Have working knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic drive systems.
- Fluent in the local language and functional knowledge of English, spoken and written.
- Hold operator licences for all equipment used in line with local requirements.
- Maintain records in compliance with agreement terms and conditions.
- Know, understand and comply with Hiab USA, Inc. Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
- Know and meet all safety and environmental requirements.
- Own required tools.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or secondary college preferred.
