We are seeking a dependable and motivated Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our transit agency team. In this role, you will focus on maintaining and enhancing transit facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers and staff. This is a hands‑on position with opportunities for growth and development in facilities maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are standard for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
- Works on facility maintenance projects and may mentor/train other staff to assist as needed
- Assists manager with work assignments and prioritizing work orders and maintenance related tasks
- Review tasks and provide updates to address any issues
- Maintain records, document daily work, update facilities project list and provide daily work reports to Manager
- Work on the maintenance and repair of major items related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Perform minor repairs to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems at DCTA facilities
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed and documented through DCTAs computerized maintenance management system
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests
- Assist Manager to plan and coordinate maintenance projects, inclusive of scheduling, resource allocation, budget management and stakeholder communication
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Work closely with the direction of safety to conduct regularly scheduled safety inspections and audits
- Actively manage and document an appropriate stock of inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs
- Prepare regular reports on maintenance performed and provide proactive recommendations for improvements
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding maintenance activities and schedules
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and experience by assessing maintenance concerns promptly, professionally and thoroughly
- Maintain, support, and promote a safe work environment while complying with DCTA’s safety rules, policies, and procedures

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Any equivalent combination of education and experience)- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Technical or trade school certification in related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related work experience
- Relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other technical fields (preferred)
- Understanding of building systems including HVAC, electrical plumbing, and mechanical technicians
- Ability to work a flexible and varying schedule
- Must possess a valid, non‑restricted Texas Class C License. Must have and maintain a clean driving record
Applicants must have at least two years of driving history and possess a valid, unrestricted license.
Established driving history must be clear of the following:
- No moving violations on driving record within the last thirty- six (36) months.
- No accidents where the applicant has contributed to cause within the 3 years prior to the application date.
- Have appeared in court as required.
- No violations related to drugs/alcohol.
