Maintenance Lead

Job Purpose:
This is a working lead position. The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for leading the maintenance team toward the successful and timely completion of PM's. The team will ensure the good condition and functionality of the facility and equipment. Individual will perform a variety of maintenance tasks including fixing machinery/conveyor systems, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, and electrical work. A Maintenance Lead will effectively provide assistance and feedback to the on-site technicians, help to diagnose issues and come up with viable solutions, contact outside vendors, and work effectively with the operations team.
They should be professional with a practical mind and attention to detail, and observe all health and safety guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the PM schedule
- Maintain work orders and spare parts inventory in HIPPO maintenance system
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency and notify appropriate personnel
- Be the primary contact for facility-related emergencies, and be available after-hours for assistance and guidance
- Always follow all safety protocols and ensure the maintenance team does the same
- Survey building and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety regulations
- Maintain contact with key outside vendors, and contact new vendors as necessary
- Maintain A/C, heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
- Inspect alarm systems for security and fire protection and quickly schedule repairs when needed
- Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot automation conveyor systems
- Utilize boom-lift and scissor lift to access building or equipment near the ceiling
Qualifications /
Skills:
- Good understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
- Basic knowledge of electricity, hydraulic and other systems
- Experience in conveyor systems maintenance in an industrial, manufacturing or distribution facility
- Electromechanical skills, troubleshooting skills with PLC controls, servos, sensors and control components
- Practical experience connecting a maintenance PC to a PLC and stepping through and understanding the PLC program to troubleshoot complex control failures and make minor code changes under direction of engineering preferred
- Certification in HVAC or building maintenance technology is a plus
- Detail oriented with good problem solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Follow instructions/directions with minor supervision
- Self-motivated individual willing and able to take initiative as well as work in team environment
- Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
- HS diploma or equivalent certification
Working Conditions
The operator will be working in the warehouse which is not climate controlled. The temperature will vary from cold to hot depending on the time of year. At times the operator will be subject to dust, noise, moving vehicles, working in high places (dependent on position) and moving mechanical parts. The operator is expected to work assigned shift hours (Days/Evenings/Nights) and overtime corresponding with their shift schedule.
Due to seasonal business conditions, assigned shift hours may include 6 days/ week and holidays as required by customer needs.
Physical Requirements
Maintenance positions require frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling and occasional bending/stooping. Assigned work requires lifting of 30-50 lbs. occasionally and up to 70 lbs. infrequently.
Direct Reports
As a working Lead, the Maintenance Lead will be expected to perform maintenance duties as well as assign duties out to their team members. The team consists of 4 other technicians, working 2 shifts.
