Summary
The Housekeeping Aid - Environmental Services Technician performs the full range of manual cleaning tasks (e.g., sweeping, dust mopping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, sanitizing, decontaminating and disinfecting) relevant to the facility you are assigned.
QualificationsApplicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must demonstrate training or experience of sufficient scope and quality. Evidence must include detailed descriptions on your resume. Applicants will be evaluated against the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards and a screen‑out element. Those who do not meet the minimum acceptable qualification are eliminated.
Qualified applicants may receive credit for paid, unpaid, or volunteer experience (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps, community service). All qualifying experience will be considered; part‑time experience will be credited based on time spent. Candidates should clearly indicate duties, responsibilities, and hours for each position.
- Operate powered cleaning equipment, including buffing and polishing machines, floor stripping units, canister and upright vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacuums, pressure washers, steam cleaners, spray cleaners, electric and battery‑operated burnishers, automatic scrubbers, carpet shampooing equipment, and other powered tools.
- Clean rooms, areas, furniture, and equipment using appropriate cleaning chemicals (sanitizers, disinfectants, deodorizers, neutralizers, acidic, alkaline and neutral cleaners, floor strippers, floor finishes, metal polishes) in accordance with label directions.
- Make beds, change linens, collect soiled linens, transport, repackage, dispose and store general waste, regulated medical waste, chemotherapeutic waste, and radioactive waste, and deliver clean linens and supplies.
- Check and replenish consumable supplies such as soap, hand towels, toilet tissue, bottled water, latex gloves, etc., during cleaning and servicing of rooms and areas.
- Transport, repackage, dispose of and store sharps; replace filled sharps containers when necessary.
- Maintain multiple work shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as discussed during interviews.

Position Description Title /Physical Requirements
The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. Occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial buffers) weighing over 50 pounds is required. Duties require considerable dexterity, hand‑foot‑eye coordination, concentration, and visual acuity to see dirt, dust, and debris.
