Job Summary

Maintain, repair, and adjust a variety of custodial maintenance equipment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain, repair, and adjust a variety of custodial maintenance equipment; perform minor/major repairs on a variety of equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment; replace parts as needed.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and adjustments to mechanical and electrical attachments to custodial equipment; troubleshoot, identify, and repair electrical malfunctions of custodial equipment and attachments.
  • Follow directions from the lead custodial mechanic.
  • Assist custodial maintenance personnel with a variety of custodial maintenance duties.
  • Operate all custodial tools and equipment.
  • Maintain routine records related to equipment maintenance and repair activities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge Of:
  • Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair of custodial equipment.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of custodial equipment.
  • Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Basic record-keeping techniques.
  • Proper lifting techniques.
Ability To:
  • Maintain, repair, and adjust a variety of custodial equipment.
  • Perform general custodial maintenance duties.
  • Operate custodial hand and power tools and other equipment used in custodial maintenance.
  • Lift heavy objects.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Maintain routine records.
  • Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
  • Two years of experience in maintenance and repair of custodial equipment preferred
Licenses or

Certifications:
  • Must possess a valid Kentucky driver’s license
Physical Demands
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull heavy weights, up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
Salary

$17 to $23.25 Per Hour
