Description
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out their mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills, which facilitate non‑criminal behavior.
Blackburn Correctional Complex (BCC) is seeking candidates for a Maintenance Manager within the institution. This position is responsible for managing and supervising the Plant Maintenance Branch of the institution as it relates to the maintenance of the buildings, facilities and grounds at BCC.
Responsibilities- Plan, direct, and supervise the maintenance and operations work.
- Inspect the work of employees involved in maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of tools and other supplies.
- Plan and direct in‑house construction projects.
- Order materials and parts as needed.
- Review plans for necessary repairs.
The ideal candidate for this position will have communication skills, planning and prioritizing, organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure.
Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Seven years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
Formal training in industrial arts, horticulture, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, mechanical engineering, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for
EDUCATION:
Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year‑for‑year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working ConditionsIncumbents in this job title may be required to use hand tools and lift items in excess of 20 pounds.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
