Job Duties

Virginia Military Institute is looking for a Warehouse Assistant to help assist Physical Plant processes and procedures.

Job Duties:

* Coordinate delivery of freight and movement of surplus property with customers both internal and external to the department.

* Issue materials to maintenance teams and tracks inventory within Computerized Maintenance Management System, Megamation.

* Coordinate delivery of requested material through work order system

* Support Supply mission by assisting with annual inventory audit.

* Utilize the CMMS Megamation to account for inventory and to recover the costs through the work order system.

* Receive a variety of shipments for VMI, verifying and entering receipt of each shipment into CMMS inventory system.

* Compare packing slips against purchase orders, count items for verification, and indicate any discrepancies.

* Maintain inventory control for all items ensuring that all items are properly identified and readily accessible.

* Offload freight and stock shelves in central location as each delivery arrives; assist in general maintenance and clean-up of stockroom.

* Operate the forklift to pull, load, and move merchandise and materials.

* Operate a delivery vehicle with liftgate.

* Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Experience with computers a must

* Frequent lifting and moving of packages required.

* Ability to operate a forklift.

* Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Additional Considerations

* Knowledge of warehouse operations preferred to utilize computerized inventory control system.

* High school diploma or GED.
