Job Description

Full-Time / 12 Month position. The Custodian Night Lead - Middle School provides custodial services at the assigned site, ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include performing special cleaning operations, preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events, overseeing and supporting assigned custodians, and ensuring assignments are completed safely, properly, and timely.

Pay

$19.90 - $24.97 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Requirements
  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
  • Able to perform snow or ice removal during inclement weather.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check (physical exam and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance).
Essential Functions
  • Arrange furniture and equipment for special events.
  • Assist with snow removal operations or other unplanned requirements that could occur outside normal hours.
  • Clean space following games, performances, and other special events to maintain a sanitary, clean, and attractive environment.
  • Clean assigned facilities and grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
  • Perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures to ensure proper functioning.
  • Pick up trash from building grounds, including parking lots.
  • Replenish classroom and restroom supplies to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors with appropriate action or referrals.
  • Respond to immediate safety or operational concerns and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Secure facilities and grounds to minimize property damage and liability.
  • Supervise evening facility maintenance activities and assigned personnel to ensure efficiency and compliance with site requirements and standards.
  • Support other site maintenance staff to complete custodial activities.
  • Train assigned personnel to develop professional trade and safety awareness skills.
Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements:

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Skills:

Operate industrial maintenance equipment, adhere to safety practices, keep accurate records, and use computers (MS Word & Excel).

Knowledge:
Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios), read manuals, write documents, present information, understand multi-step instructions, methods of industrial cleaning, basic tools for minor repairs, safety practices.

Abilities:
Schedule activities, gather and collate data, work with a diversity of individuals, problem solve, adapt to changing work priorities, project manage, lift 50 lbs., climb ladders to 8', meet deadlines and schedules.

Responsibility

Work under direct supervision, direct other personnel within a small work unit, operate within a defined budget, and have opportunity to impact organization’s services.

Work Environment

Physical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity, 5% sitting, 75% walking, 20% standing, and variable temperature extremes.
