Airport Security Identification Technician IV

This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, Airports Division located at Lihue Airport on the Island of Kauai. Recruitment is continuous until needs are met for position. Salary:
Starting salary is $4,388/mo. or $52,656 annually (salary commensurate with training and experience)

Duties Summary

The Airport Pass & e plans, coordinates, monitors, and directs security activities in the district. The program implements provisions of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 139 and Transportation Security Regulations Part 1542, develops and recommends plans and programs to ensure the Airport Security Program, and advises the Airport District Manager, or the authorized person in charge, when any emergency or unusual situation is foreseen or occurs.

The Airport Security Identification Technician IV is responsible for supervising and conducting training of the lower level Airport Security Technicians. Makes assignments and monitors the quality of work. This position is also responsible for the issuance and control of airport issued security and identification media, restricted area access permits or passes to restricted areas of the airport, security area card codes, security keys and related record keeping;

operation of a computerized IDMS (badging system); distribution of permit information, online application forms, badges, keys; accept, receipt and reconcile payments associated with the function of the Airport Pass & e.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Basic

Education:

Graduation from high school, or equivalent. One (1) year of work experience which demonstrates that the applicant is able to read and comprehend written material, follow oral and written instructions, and prepare written material may be substituted for graduation from high school. General

Experience:

Two (2) years of work experience which demonstrates the following abilities: (1) meet and deal effectively with people; (2) understand and apply various rules and regulations; (3) providing information, answering questions and inquiries and explaining policies, rules and regulations in person; and (4) utilizing a computer to retrieve and enter data. Experience:

Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving applying and complying with federal law (e.g., state eligibility workers) or adhering to strict business practices adopted pursuant to federal, state, and county laws, rules, regulations, and related directives (e.g., banking, motor vehicle transactions, etc.), where failure to follow applicable laws and regulations could result in financial consequences. Supervisory

Experience:

For the Airport Security Identification Technician III and IV level positions, applicant must possess supervisory aptitude.

Substitution of Education for General

Experience:

Graduation from high school, or equivalent, with courses in basic English and arithmetic may be substituted for six (6) months of General Experience OR Successful completion of a substantially full-time equivalent curriculum leading to a degree, diploma or certificate of achievement at an accredited community college, business or technical school which included courses in English, clerical/office procedures, and mathematics may be substituted for the required General Experience, as noted by the single asterisk (*), on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credits of satisfactorily completed course work for six (6) months of General Experience, up to a maximum of one (1) year.

Driver's License:
Valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii, as applicable.

Knowledge of:
